Grangemouth Amateur Synchronised Swimming Club

Grangemouth Amateur Swimming Club, in conjunction with Falkirk Community Trust Sports Development, has now established a Synchronised Swimming Club.

This is an exciting opportunity for children in the local area to develop new skills within an enjoyable and fun environment. Why not come along and give it a try?

Entry requirements:
Synchronised swimming requires flexibility and stamina. Current or previous experience in dance, diving or gymnastics is therefore helpful. All new swimmers must to be able to swim 100 metres breaststroke without being totally breathless.

Progression in synchronised swimming:
Initially, the club will be working towards Scottish Swimming Awards in Synchronised swimming to allow your child to gain basic competencies in the sport. Following completion of the aforementioned Awards, it will be the intention of the coaches to look at ways in which your child can be progressed to national synchronised swimming gradings.

UK Synchro Swim OlympicsGASC is a vibrant new club and although the Club is in its early stages of development, it is the intention of the Club to participate, when appropriate to do so, in various competitions at local and national level throughout the year. The swimmers all enjoy the routine element of training and putting these into practise through competing at these events.

The first novice competition will be held in December 2012 and we are aiming to have all girls participate in this event. The Club is really excited about the prospect of a Grangemouth Synchro Team participating in this their first competitive event. Information to follow. To maintain our swimmers interest and to  encourage them in their training Grangemouth ASC regularly organises and participates in competitive swimming galas. These range from time-trials, in-house and local club meets and leagues through to regi onal, district, national and international competitions. Grangemouth ASC has had success at all of these levels.

The Club currently trains once a week within Grangemouth High School.

Thursday – Grangemouth High School 7.30 – 9.00pm  - All swimmers, including beginners.

Consideration will be given to the running of two 45 minute classes thereby splitting the pool time due to the high number of girls attending. A decision in this regard will be made shortly.

Swimmers must be on the poolside ready to start swimming at 7.30pm prompt.

During each session you must bring along a swimming hat, nose clip and goggles. Synchronised swimming is a demanding sport. All swimmers are therefore required to bring onto poolside weak diluting juice or water for essential hydration.

Items for sale:
It is proposed that Caps and nose clips will be available to buy on the poolside from August 2012.

All of the coaches are committed to synchronised swimming and developing the swimmers to reach their full potential. In return we expect swimmers to be committed, willing to listen and to try their best.

For all new swimmers the first week is free. £2 per session will then be payable on the day.

Joining Information:
You will need to complete an application form which can be obtained from the coaches on training nights.
